You're probably wondering…
Using it
Do members need to download an app?
No. Members open a link, shown as a QR code in the bulletin, on screen, or sent by text, and tap their language. Everything runs in the phone's browser on iOS and Android, with no app store and no account.
Is it text only, or can people hear the translation?
Both. Listeners get live translated text by default. One tap turns on translated audio through their own headphones, and they can switch between text and audio at any point in the service.
Can it use our pastor's voice?
Yes. With voice cloning, the translated audio is spoken in your pastor's voice. Cloning is built into our core languages: 31 today, including English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Mandarin, Arabic, Hindi, and more. The full list is on the pricing page.
Does it help people who are deaf or hard of hearing?
Yes. Choose English and the original sermon appears as live word-for-word captions on the person's phone. Live English captions are included in every plan.
Does it work for people watching our livestream?
That's coming soon. Today LivingTongues serves the people in your building. We're building online viewing so your livestream audience can follow along in their own language too. Let us know if you want to hear when it's ready.
Setup
Does it work with our existing sound system?
Yes. The on-site appliance connects to an auxiliary output on your sound board. No new microphones, no rewiring, and no change to how your service runs. Most churches are up the same afternoon the appliance arrives.
What if the internet goes down or the appliance goes offline?
LivingTongues automatically falls back to the cloud if the on-site appliance goes offline. Like any live translation service, it does need an internet connection to translate.
How many languages can we offer?
Plans are sized for 1, 3, 10, or 25+ languages, but those are guides, not limits. Add another language any time and it simply uses tokens from your allowance.
We have more than one campus. Is that covered?
Yes. Multi-site support is included on every plan. Any campus that connects to the appliance is covered.
Pricing and pilots
What is a token?
One token is one hour of live translation in one language. A one-hour sermon translated into three languages uses three tokens. Worship music doesn't count. See the pricing page for details.
Can we try it before we sign up?
Yes. We offer a no-cost pilot with no credit card required. We'll help you set up, walk you through it, and let your congregation experience it live before you decide anything. Request a pilot.
Is it being used in real churches?
Yes. LivingTongues is running in live Sunday services today, and we keep improving it alongside the churches that use it. A pilot is the best way to see how it fits yours.
